Information regarding The Summit in El Dorado Hills
The Summit in El Dorado Hills is a wonderful gated community near Folsom Lake. This luxury neighborhood offers lake views and large custom homes. Once a year goats (yes, goats!) graze the neighborhood to reduce vegetation. They eat star thistle, poison oak and other nuisance plants. There are several advantages of goat grazing including that they are a green alternative and that goats reduce seed load on lots, thereby reducing recurring exotic grasses.
The neighborhood park is located at Lakecrest and Crocker. There is a large play structure, tennis court and large BBQ area. There is also a historic trail that leads from Hathaway Ct. (at bottom of Crocker) to Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. Portions of this trail are reputed to have been used by prospectors on the way to the gold fields during the California Gold Rush.
The Summit hosts annual events for their residents. The Ice Cream Social is held in the spring. It is a social gathering of neighbors with ice cream sundaes and children's lawn games. The Ocktoberfest is held in the fall, offering BBQ bratwurst, hot dogs, sauerkraut, fruit and potato salad, German music, beer, wine, soft drinks and pumpkin decorating for the children.
The Summit is located in the Rescue Union School District and the children attend Lake Forest Elementary School, Marina Middle School and Oak Ridge High School.
The HOA for The Summit covers the association management, the gates and common areas for around $175 per month.
